Striped Bass Night-Morning-Sound Fishing
Specializing in Plug fishing for hard fighting Striped Bass at night. If you're a fresh or salt water fisherman, I invite you to take a ride with me on the wild side of light tackle plug fishing for Striped Bass in our back bays at night. These fish average 8 to 12 pounds, with even bigger fish always possible. They hit like a freight train and at night will often perform cartwheeling jumps that will throw the hook if you don't keep a tight line.
While plugging for Striped Bass we also can catch big Weakfish and Bluefish over 8 pounds. Striped Bass can be caught from spring through fall.
Also available for fishing all bay species on daytime bait trips.
Early Morning Plugging and Popping
This is the most productive time of the day for catching Striped Bass, for those who can deal with getting up at 2am. We start fishing around 3am with shallow swimming plugs then as dawn nears we switch to top water plugs. Bass explode on top water plugs and is something that all fishermen should experience. The early morning sunrises on the bay have to be seen to be appreciated. Also this is usually the calmest part of the day with little or no boat traffic and my favorite time to be on the water.
Sound Fishing for Striped Bass
Night casting with artificials along sod banks can at first be difficult for the first timer, as they tend to cast too far. I have found by telling people to cast softly at first, and then add a little more power until they get the range. It's not long before they are making surprisingly accurate cast to a splashing bass next to a sod bank. People really seem to enjoy employing this new found skill. We move propelled by the silent electric motor casting and listening for the splashing of feeding bass, our ears guide us to the quarry. Yes you can catch bass at 7am and 4pm in daylight hours but for those who fish the late night and the wee hours of the pre-dawn have a chance to experience a world class fishery right here in our own back yard.
